How Does Sculptra Work?
Unlike traditional fillers that just “fill in space” with a foreign substance, Sculptra actually stimulates your body to begin producing it’s own collagen in the skin- as it did in your youth. Gradually, over the weeks following your session, your collagen volume will increase from the newly-formed collagen. When fully corrected, the volume restored usually lasts two to three years.
Is Sculptra Safe?
Polylactic acid is extremely safe. It is a simple sugar with a long history of use in cosmetic procedures. With time, it is biodegraded into lactic acid, a normal by-product of the body’s metabolism.
What Are The Benefits & Limitations Of Sculptra?
Sculptra does cost more than most other fillers initially. It also requires more than one session to have the ideal affect, and takes a little longer to show results.
However, Sculptra lasts 2-3 times as long as the next closest “filler.” (Up to 8 times as long, depending on what product you are comparing to, and your own personal results with Sculptra.) Taking this into consideration, Sculptra may actually cost you less in the long run. Additionally, you are growing your own collagen back rather than replacing it- allowing for a more natural appearance.
